About Cowes Town Waterfront Trust

Championing Cowes

Cowes Town Waterfront Trust is an independent local charity dedicated to preserving the reputation of Cowes as one of the world’s premier centres for sailing and boating.

The Trust owns and operates Cowes Yacht Haven marina along with its adjacent boatyard and events centre. By managing these facilities within a charitable structure, the Trust ensures that they remain accessible and focused on supporting the sailing community – free from many of the commercial pressures faced by other marinas.

This unique approach allows Cowes Yacht Haven to host world-class sailing and boating events that draws competitors, enthusiasts and visitors from across the globe. In turn, these events help sustain the status of Cowes as one of the world’s leading international sailing venues bringing energy, investment and opportunity to the town and the wider Island community.

In addition, the Trust owns a number of retail and residential properties along Cowes High Street.

Income generated through the Trust’s activities is reinvested into the local community through charitable grants. These grants support individuals and organisations whose work aligns with the Trust’s charitable objectives.

In particular, the Trust seeks to advance sailing and watersports in and around Cowes, with a focus on creating opportunities for those who may be vulnerable or experiencing hardship. The Trust also works to promote and support the rich maritime culture and heritage that has long defined the town while encouraging initiatives that protect and enhance the natural environment of Cowes Harbour.
